Carbon boys basketball team defeated the Providence Hall Patriots 56-40 at home Friday night.
The win gives the Dinos their second straight Region 14 win after starting their non-conference schedule at 1-6.
Carbon junior forward Collin Lewis propelled the Dinos to a strong first quarter, scoring 7 of his team’s 13 points.
Senior guard Jordan Vasquez picked up two quick fouls in the first quarter and had to sit for the rest of the first half. While Vasquez sat on the bench, junior guard Ty Anderson took his place and the Dinos didn’t miss a beat the rest of the first half.
Anderson scored seven points in the second quarter in relief of Vasquez.
According to Carbon Head Coach Kyle Willson, Anderson gave the Dinos exactly what they need against Providence Hall.
“I felt like he came in and kind of gave us a spark.  He attached the basket and got a couple of layups, couple of free throws. I am never doubting Ty Anderson’s effort,” Willson said.
The Dinos went into halftime leading the Patriots 23-11.
Carbon kept firing on all cylinders in the second half, thanks in part to the return of Vasquez.
Vasquez made four 3s in the third quarter to help hold off the Patriots, who had an impressive quarter.
