The Carbon High School girls’ basketball team secured its first victory of the season on Tuesday with a win over the Dons of Spanish Fork High School. The Dinos won by a close score of 54-51.
Carbon got out to a quick lead over Spanish Fork, leading by five points after the first period and six at halftime. After halftime, however, Spanish Fork got a wave of momentum and outscored the Dinos by four, which cut the Dinos’ lead to only two points. However, the Dinos were able to edge the Dons in the fourth period to take the win.
For the Dinos, junior Lindsey Blanc tallied 15 points which included five field goals and one three-pointer. Senior Sara Morley tallied 10 points which included four field goals and two free throws. Junior Taylor Passarella tallied seven points which included three field goals and one three-pointer. Senior Jordan Scoggins also tallied seven points which included two field goals, one three-pointer and two free throws.
The Dinos, now 1-0 overall, will play at home on Tuesday against Salem Hills High School at 7 p.m., before a big rivalry match-up on Friday, in which the Dinos will play at home against Emery High School at 7 p.m.
