A Utah Highway Patrol Trooper guides an AirMed helicopter into place after a collision between a semi-tractor and a car on U.S. Highway 6 near Soldier Summit at approximately 6 p.m. injured a man. On Tuesday. Sgt. Jeff Nigbur of the Utah Highway Patrol indicated that, according to witnesses, the eastbound vehicle reportedly ran off the right side of the road near milepost 211 before coming back onto the road and veering into the left lane, where the truck was heading westbound. The collision cut a hole in the fuel tank of the semi, which spilled 50 to 60 gallons of diesel at the scene. The unidentified Carbon County resident traveling in the car was critically injured. U.S. Highway 6 was shut down for about an hour for the accident, jamming traffic in both directions. Nigbur said the accident and whether alcohol was involved int he crash remains under investigation.
