Helen VanNatta Jouflas
HELPER – Our loving mother and grandmother, Helen Pilling VanNatta Jouflas, returned to her Heavenly Father on March 27, 2008 at the age of 89.
She was born Dec. 6, 1918 in the small farming community of Victor in Emery County to William �Monte� and Grace Erickson Pilling. Married William Clifford VanNatta June 3, 1938 in Price; he passed away on Dec. 23, 1974. On Dec. 6, 1985, she married Chris P. Jouflas in Salt Lake City; he also preceded her in death on March 2, 1994.
Helen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was a longtime resident of Carbon and Emery counties, where she was a devoted member of the Ladies American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed bowling, crocheting and working on ceramics at the senior center.
Helen loved playing Bridge and she always looked forward to her weekly card games with the girls.
She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her three daughters, Charlene (Dave) Pearce, Salt Lake City; Sandra Kidd, Keller, Texas; Helen M. VanNatta, Federal Way, Wash.; three granddaughters, Leslie, Cindy and Karen; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and a daughter, Barbara Jean.
Funeral service Wednesday, April 2, 2 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell�s Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment; Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.

Mary Jane Yelonek
EAST CARBON – Mary Jane Jelaco Yelonek, age 88, passed away peacefully March 29, 2008 after a brief stay at Beehive Home in Price.
She was born on April 11, 1919 in Van Houten, N.M., to John and Anna Sakulich Jelaco.In 1940, she married Joseph Steve Yelonek in Ogden; he died on Dec. 20, 1982.
Mary was a loving person and caregiver who enjoyed nature, friends and writing poetry. Over the years, many of her works were submitted for publication.
She enjoyed reading daily scriptures and she faithfully began and ended each day in prayer.
She was valedictorian of her graduating class.
Mary loved to sing and, in her earlier years, her beautiful alto voice accompanied the women�s choir in Wyoming.
Mary enjoyed camping, gardening, baking, canning and sharing her gift baskets of goodies with neighbors and friends.
She loved working on crossword puzzles, crocheting and knitting afghans for everyone to enjoy.
She was a tireless worker, who was a firm believer in hard work, having fun and just enjoying the simpler things in life.
We will all miss her beautiful smile, keen sense of humor and her quick wit.
Mary touched the hearts of many, and her parting will leave a void in all who knew and loved her.
Survived by her daughter, Virginia Amendola, San Fransico,Calif.; son, Gilbert John Yelonek, Grand Junction, Colo.; sisters, Katherine (Red) Morocki, Green River, Wyo.; Ann Bozner, Riverside, Calif.; dear friend and caregiver, Walter Dickerson, East Carbon; grandchildren, Scott Yelonek, Becky Johnson, Laura Nelson; and four loving great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John, George, Mike, Joe and Nick; and a son-in-law, Tony Amendola.
Funeral service, Wednesday, April 2, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell�s Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.

Jose Olivas Quintero
WELLINGTON – Jose Olivas Quintero, age 76, died March 24, 2008 in Price.
He was born March 19, 1932 in Santa Maria, Sinaloa, Mexico, to Pedro Quintero and Estefana Olivas. He married Maria Martina Gastelum Villalba in Lalapara, Sinaloa, Mexico.
He is survived by his 24 children and many grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria.
Funeral services were Thursday, March 27, at Fausett Mortuary Chapel in Price. Interment was Friday, March 28, at the Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
Reginald Charles Williams
HELPER/SURPRISE, Ariz. – Reginald Charles Williams, 86, beloved husband of Edna Kathryn Toson Williams for 65 years, passed away March 17, 2008 in Surprise, Ariz.
He was born Sept. 6, 1921 in Huntington. He was a longtime resident of Helper and Salt Lake City, living near his daughter the last six years of his life.
He was a veteran of WWII and a retired engineer/road foreman/train master for the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad.
An important part of his life was his work in the Masonic Lodge in Price. A 32nd degree Scottish rights mason, he was past master of Joppa Lodge and past president of Eastern Utah Shrine Club.
He was always the life of the party, had a wonderful sense of humor, laughed often and loved to dance. He will be sorely missed by his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Edna; and his three children, Reg A. (Yvonne), Ypsilanti, Mich.; Shannon Warren (Marvin) Surprise, Ariz.; and Edward R. (Laurie) Brighton, Colo. He was truly blessed with a special son-in-law, Marvin. He was known and loved as Papa by his seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service in his honor will be April 5 at 1 p.m. at the Price Masonic Hall, 39 North 100 East.
