Sally Mauro’s students are getting kind of jumpy as their big chance to earn dollars to help fight heart disease comes closer.
Next Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. the gymnasium floor will be vibrating from the pounding of little feet as they bounce over the top of jump ropes. Sally Mauro is just one of Carbon County’s schools that will be participating in the fundraiser “Jump Rope for Heart”
While the whole district is getting into the spirit this year, one school has been a veteran participant for the past nine years and has been recognized by the American Heart Association in its newsletter “Jumping Journal.” Castle Heights Elementary placed seventh in the top 25 fundraising Utah schools in 2006-2007.
“Jump Rope for Heart” teaches students how exercise benefits the heart and shows students that volunteering can be fun and beneficial to the whole community.
Money raised by the event will go to fund research and educational programs. Anyone interested in donating to the students’ efforts should call the American Heart Association at 1-800-AHA-USA1 or Sally Mauro at 472-5311.
