Albert Passic
PRICE – Albert “Obbie” Passic, age 85, passed away in the comfort of the VA Hospital in Salem, Va., on Jan. 11, 2007.
Born April 10, 1921 in Scofield to John and Ursula Loncarich Passic. Married Lois Hazel Gilligan on June 7, 1946 in Salt Lake City; marriage later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in 1963. Lois passed away on March 9, 2000.
Obbie was a graduate of Carbon High School class of 1939, where he participated and lettered in many sports. He played on the 1938 state championship football team and was elected all-state second team.
In 1941, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served four years in the Pacific, Asiatic and European conflicts.
Upon discharge, he entered Carbon College and played on the first Carbon College football team.
After graduation he went to work for the Carbon County Sheriff’s department where he was employed for 33 years, 25 of those years he served as sheriff.
Obbie was well known and highly respected for the way he always put Carbon County first. He loved the people and always strived to make Carbon County a better place to live, work and raise our youth. His leadership and direction helped the lives of many and his generosity will never be forgotten.
Obbie always stayed active in athletics and he won numerous championships in various different sporting events over the years. He was a 30 year member of the Utah Officials Association, elected to the CEU Athletic Hall of Fame and the Utah Officials Hall of Fame.
He enjoyed being in the outdoors with family and friends. Whether it was fishing with his buddies or sharing a round of golf with his boys and former President George Bush, Obbie always made the best of everything, even if it meant a staunch Democrat from Carbon County golfing with a Republican president.
Obbie was very active in law enforcement and his community. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Served as president of the Utah Peace Officers Association, president of Utah Sheriff’s Association, chairman of the Utah Peace Officers Standards and Training Academy, POST instructor for both Utah and Wyoming, awarded Outstanding Community Service Award in 1971 by the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce, and in 1987 received Man of the Year from the Soroptimist of Price.
Survived by sons, Gregory A. (Carolyn) Passic, Clifton, Va.; Jon T. (Janice) Passic, Christiansburg, Va.; five grandchildren, Shauna Williams, Jyl Robinson, Lindsey Larsen, Kai and Laura Passic; two great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Cosette Williams. Preceded in death by parents, wife, four sisters and two brothers.
Funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1 p.m., at Price 5th LDS Ward Chapel. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price city cemetery.

Jerry Anderson
HUNTINGTON/MULBERRY, Ark. – Jerry Neldon Anderson, 77, passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla.
He was born Dec. 4, 1929 in Huntington, the son of the late Neldon and Velma Anderson. He married Jewel McCollum June 8, 1957 in Huntington which was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Jerry was an industrious man. He worked in the oil field industry in New Mexico. He was also a diesel mechanic. He was a man of many talents at fixing anything.
His life revolved around his loving, loving wife, Jewel, to whom he was happily married to for 49 years. He proudly served his country during the Korean War as a soldier in the U.S. Army. His favorite times were spent with his family and friends, enjoying the farm he and his wife built.
Jerry is survived by wife, Jewel of Mulberry, Ark.; daughter, Tammy Vanourny of Mountainburg, Ark.; grandson, Jeremy (Stacy) Vanourmy of Mulberry, Ark.; and great-granddaughters, Julia and Jayda Vanourny of Mulberry, Ark. They were the joy and center of his life. Also survived by sisters, Ramona Zmerzlikar and Sandra (Bill) Nichols, all of Utah; and Marlene (Richard) Peterson of New Mexico; brother, Hal (Velora) Anderson of Utah. Preceded in death by brother, Harry Anderson.
Services were Jan. 6, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Alma, Ark., with interment at New Cemetery in Mulberry, Ark., under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma, Ark.
Peggy Campbell
PROVO – Peggy Aleine Anderson Campbell, age 68, of Provo, died Jan. 2, 2007, at her home.
She was born April 27, 1938 in Mt. Pleasant to Glennis Lavon and Melba Bernice Zabriskie Anderson. Peggy married Bill Fivecoat, and together they had seven children. They were later divorced. She married Ernie Campbell, he preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 2002.
The family wishes to thank Don Suzanne Larsen.
Peggy is survived by two daughters and four sons, Jeannie Young of Provo; Terry Marshall of Price; Alyn Tyler of Ogden; Mark Myers of Salt Lake; Penny Nice of Provo; and Chris Mortensen of Richfield; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Tommy Anderson of Price; Chuck Anderson of Price; and Gordy Anderson of Salt Lake. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Ernie; and son, David.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 5 at the Freedom Ward Chapel in Provo. Interment, Provo city cemetery.

Ann Pero
HELPER – Antonette Marasco Pero, age 84, died Jan. 13, 2007 in Provo.
She was born Sept. 26, 1922 in Spring Glen to Ross and Rosa Pinarelli Marasco.
Ann worked as a waitress and bank teller in the Helper and Price area where she made many wonderful friends.
She loved to knit and crochet for her family. She loved spending time with family and friends, and traveling with all of them in the motor home.
She was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Helper all her life.
Survived by two sons, Robert (Dorine) Pero, Dominic (Pam) Pero, both of Spring Glen; grandchildren, Jeremy (Danielle) Pero, Sandy; Kevin (Mariann) Pero, Syracuse; Jamie Pero and friend, Justin Parker, Pleasanton, Calif.; Kelly Pero and fiance, Jesse Valdez, Price; Jeff (Melissa) Pero, Herriman; Jordan Pero, Salt Lake City; brother, John (Joy) Marasco, Spring Glen; four great-grandchildren, Kristopher, Makaiah, Hunter and Ethan; and loving sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by devoted husband, Pete of 44 years; parents; and brother, Tony.
She will forever remain devoted to her sister-in-law and friend, Amelia Pero, who will deeply miss their Thursday outings to town.
Memorial Mass Friday, Jan. 19, 11 a.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service Thursday evening, 7 p.m., at the church in Helper. Family will be at the church in Helper Thursday and Friday one-half hour prior to services. Committal service, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper, under the directions of Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
