The Carbon Dive team started the New Year off right with winning a meet in Kamas on January 4th. Travis Hobbs is scorching his competition as he posted a personal best score of 386.9 points to beat all other divers at the meet.
Brett Wells also had a good meet, placing third overall. Travis Hepworth had a fifth place finish with 275 points even though he failed one of his dives. Right behind him was James Machcinski with sixth place and a personal best score of 245.
Nick Torres garnered ninth Nathan Hepworth took the 10th spot to round off the Carbon team. Torres and Nathan Hepworth failed two dives or they might have placed higher.
Coach Stew Foster was a bit worried about how the holiday layoff had affected his team. “We thought our divers would be out of condition from the Christmas break, but the rest seemed good for most of them.” He commented. “All the boys are improving quite a bit. I hope it continues through State,”summed up the Carbon coach.
Next up for the squad is a meet at Bear River High on January 13th.
