Wanless Jorgensen
FERRON/NIKISKI, Alaska – Wanless Jorgensen, 77, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at his home in Nikiski, Alaska.
He was born March 30, 1927 in Emery.
Wan attended South Central County High School and had furthered his education by studying electrical engineering in Wenatchee, Wash., and electronics at Hill Air Force Base. He entered the U.S. Army and served during World War II until he was honorably discharged. Wan worked for the IBEW on various electrical projects in China, the Carribean Islands, Greenland and throughout the United States. Some of the projects in Alaska included the White Alice Defense Sites, Electricial Superintendent of Unocal Construction and the Alyeska Pipeline Construction. He retired from the IBEW in the late 1970s. Wan moved to Nikiski in 1959 and was a member of the American Legion Post 20 and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Wan enjoyed restoring older cars, woodworking and bible study.
The family wrote, “Wan relished in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and develop. He looked forward to family gatherings, the occasional drop-in and telling a good story. Wan was an inspiration to many people in the community. In his later years he endeavored to promote jobs and economic development in the wood products industry. Wan was a very spiritual man, he was devoted in the word of God. His desire was to share the knowledge of the Bible and his faith with his family and friends. Wan was devoted to his wife, Colleen. He will dearly be missed.”
He is survived by wife, 61 years , Colleen Jorgensen of Nikiski, Alaska; daughters, Sammie Dillard of Pahrump, Nev.; and Eleanor Huntsman of Nikiski, Alaska; sons, Creig, Dale and Gale Jorgensen, all of Nikiski, Alaska; foster sons, Robert, Dale, Jimmy and Kenny Lewis; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Maggie Hansen of Emery; and Donna Hughs of Boise, Idaho. Wan was preceded in death by his father, John Jorgensen; mother, Jenny Jorgensen; 14 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were March 26, in Alaska. Additional funeral services will be Wednesday, March 30, noon, at the Ferron LDS Stake Center. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Burial in the Ferron cemetery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary. Arrangements in Alaska were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
Dick Keller
PRICE Richard (Dick) William Keller, age 46, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 23, 2005.
He was born Jan. 18, 1959, in Tucson, Ariz., to Richard W. and Paula Hemphill Keller. Dick was married to Kelly Colosimo and together they had a son, Louis Keller. He was also married to Stacey Johnson and together they had three daughters, Melanie, Monica and Michelle.
Graduate of Carbon High School Class of 1977 where he played football and was a competitive wrestler. Member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Price. He also enjoyed his friends and loved helping those in need. But most of all, Dick loved working in his yard and spending time with his family. Dick was “always willing to lend a helping hand to all who knew him.” Dick always loved his children and they were his greatest passion. To his brothers and sisters, he was “our” constant friend and will be forever missed. No matter what obstacles came his way, Dick proved time and again to be a “true survivor” and that is how he will be remembered.
Survived by three daughters, Melanie, Monica and Michelle; stepfather, Robert Belich of Mesquite, Nev.; three brothers, Stephen Keller of Elkhart, Ind.; Dennis and Violet Keller of Rock Springs, Wyo.; Joe and Gina Keller of Price; two sisters, Karen Belich of Arizona; Bobby and Stacey Moon of Rawlins, Wyo.; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father, Richard Keller Sr.; mother, Paula Belich; and son, Louis Keller.
Funeral Mass, Tuesday March 29 at 10 a.m. at the Notre Dame Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service Monday evening 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Dick would want your contributions to go to either the Notre Dame Catholic Church or your favorite charity.
Ronald Melo
GUSHER – Ronald Ray Melo, age 43, of Gusher, died March 24, 2005 at his home.
He was born July 18, 1961 in Moab, to John and Shirley C. Franklin Melo. He married Sherry Lynn Richens on Aug. 9, 1985 in Ballard.
Ron enjoyed cooking, barbecuing, hunting, fishing, camping, riding horses, motorcycles, playing horseshoes, and being outdoors. He dearly loved his kids and grandkids and liked being in the middle of their business. He worked at RNI Trucking as a dispatcher, which made him “the boss”. When his children were younger he volunteered much time to the Head Start preschool.
He is survived by wife, Sherry, Gusher; children, Alexis Ray (Josh) Cox, Grand Junction, Colo.; Charity Dawn (Curtis) Hansen, Arcadia, Tabatha Shariee (Jed Ivie) Melo, Andrew Jay Melo, Ronnie Jo Melo, all of Gusher; grandchildren, McKeynlie Rae Davidson, Orianna Rachelle Cox, Cyler Jace Hansen; mother, Shirley Melo, Gusher; brothers and sisters, Paul (Lea) Giacoletto, Price; Kathy (Wes) Twitchell, Gusher; John (Diane) Melo, Lawrence; Steve (Joanna) Melo, Price; sister-in-law Chris Melo; his twin, Donald (Nola) Melo, Gusher; and many nieces and nephews who adored him. He was proud to be a godfather to Suzanna Cathaline Melo and Diane Melo. He was preceded in death by father; an infant sister, Shirley Kay; and grandparents.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 30, 10 a.m., at the Hullinger Mortuary. Friends and family may call at the mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday. Interment, Cleveland Cemetery, Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
