Construction report for Carbon and Emery counties

•U.S. Highway 6 from mile post 288 to 300 (Pavement Rehabilitation) – Project includes a hot-in-place recycling of existing pavement. Crews are currently working in one travel lanes with one lane open for traffic in alternating directions as directed by flaggers and pilot cars. Crews will work Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. During those hours, motorists should expect moderate delays of up to 15 minutes. Expected completion: June 2005.
•U.S. Highway 6 from mile post 226 to 228 (Passing Lane) – Project includes addition of a passing lane. Crews are currently working on shoulder areas of the road with one lane of traffic open in each direction with a reduced speed limit. Wide load restrictions are in place and motorists should expect minimum delays. Expected completion: Fall 2005.
•State Route 10 Muddy Creek Bridge Replacement (North of Emery) – Project includes the replacement of a bridge over Muddy Creek north of Emery. Crews are currently building a temporary bridge that will act as a detour during construction. For traffic is reduced to one lane in alternating directions as directed by flaggers and pilot cars. Crews will work Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. During those hours, motorists should expect moderate delays of up to 15 minutes. One lane in each direction will open when the temporary bridge is complete. A reduced speed limit of 35 mph will be in effect through project completion. Expected completion: September 2005.
•U.S. 6 from Price to Wellington – Project includes widening of U.S. 6 from two lanes to four. Crews are currently excavating the roadway bed and paving. Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction with occasional lane closures as directed by flaggers. Motorists should watch for workers and equipment in the area and expect occasional delays for truck crossings. Expected completion: June 2005.
•U.S. Highway 6 from mile post 258 to 261 (Passing Lane) – Project includes addition of a passing lane. Crews are currently paving the road with one lane of traffic open in each direction with minimum delays. Expected completion: Summer 2005.
•U.S. Highway 6 at Sunnyside Junction – Project includes the widening of a bridge on U.S. 6 near Sunnyside Junction. Crews are currently working on the shoulder areas of the road with one lane of traffic open in each direction with minimum delays. Expected completion: Fall 2005.
This report advises motorists of major construction projects on highways in Carbon and Emery counties that may impact traffic. The project descriptions provide general information: overall scope, basic traffic control measures and anticipated completion dates.
Some projects may not be included due to their short time table or lesser impact on traffic. Construction schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather conditions, equipment problems or emergency situations.
This report does not include information on federal, county or city projects unless UDOT is directly involved. Please refer to the proper agency for information on projects not included in this report.
