Castle Valley Barracuda swimmers Randy Slane, Ryan Slane, Christopher Eikenbary and Caitlin Eikenbary attended a meet in Richfield on July 10 and brought home five first place finishes.
In the men’s 13-14 year old 100 yard freestyle event, Randy and Ryan Slane improved their personal best time.
Randy shaved over six seconds off his time, while his twin brother Ryan took 20 seconds off his best time.
The pair also competed in the 50 yard butterfly competition. Ryan took first place in the event, while Randy missed a third place finish when he was disqualified for a technical error.
Fifteen-year-old Christopher Eikenbary raced in the 100 yard breaststroke, the 100 yard individual medley (IM) and the 100 yard freestyle.
According to coach Heidi Miller, all the swimmers were in close competition when they pushed off the far wall for the final length.
Eikenbary would finish in second place, a fingertip’s length away from first.
Caitlin Eikenbary, 11, placed first in the women’s 50 yard freestyle race, defeating the competition by two seconds. She also competed in the 50 yard backstroke and the 100 yard IM.
Overall the Barracuda team placed third due to the small size of the squad.
The Barracudas will host the Ephraim at Desert Wave Pool in Price on Saturday, July 17.
The team will also participate in the season’s championship meet in Richfield on July 30 and 31.
