Floyd Bentley
PRICE/WEST VALLEY CITY – Our beloved father, Floyd Charlie Bentley, passed away peacefully Nov. 29, 2004.
Floyd was born Jan. 3, 1921 in Heber to Elba and Vivian Ladema Hamilton Bentley. He married Betty Mary Davis May 16, 1942. They made their home in Price and later relocated to West Valley City.
Floyd served during World War II in Rome, Italy and northern Africa. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater of Operations Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal.
Received a certification in sheet metal and machine shop from the Utah Technical College in February 1968.
Retired from civil service at Hill Air Force Base in 1983, where he worked as a tool and die maker.
He was a member of the LDS Church.
He loved motorcycles, camping, hunting and fishing and enjoyed traveling with his wife during his retirement years.
Survived by six children, Sherry House, Charley (Jeanie) Bentley, Bruce (Susan) Bentley, Dennis (Anna) Bentley, Carol Bentley, Tammy (Stacy Allen) Jones; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ellen (Jim) Bates, June (Val) Johnson, Colleen Adair; and brothers, Kenneth (Velva) Bentley and Jerry (Eleanor) Bentley, Preceded in death by wife, Betty Mary Davis Bentley; parents; three brothers and two sisters.
He was compassionately cared for at the Utah State Veterans Nursing Home during his last years of life. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the staff who cared for him.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 3, 11 a.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where a viewing will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Graveside services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.
