Junior wrestlers from Carbon County really came through in a local and national tournament recently.
Coach Ray Sisneros, in his fourth year working with the kids, took them to the Denver National Tournament on Nov. 5 and the team placed five athletes in the top six of their categories.
Kyler Key took first place in the nation in the 63 lb. class while Caleb Williams took second in the 49 lb. class.
Johnny O’Hearon took fifth in the 61 lb. class and two wrestlers from the area, Kenden Huff (98 lbs.) and Bryce Jackman (59 lbs.) took sixth in their divisions.
Another Carbon area wrestler, Bobbie Rowley (66 lbs.) took the overall sportsmans award for the tournament.
The next week the team went to Orem and participated in a state wide meet where the team took 19 places with 12 first place awards. Here are those who placed.
