The almost annual Scofield Snow Ride is back and it is better than ever this year. Carbon County Recreation along with over 30 local businesses are sponsoring the nearly annual event. Feb. 14 is the day that anyone interested can trek his or her way through the Manti-LaSal National Forest.
The ride begins at the entrance to the Mountain Home Subdivision on the west side of Scofield Reservoir. Registered riders need to be at this location no later than 9 a.m. on the day of the event. The ride is a 42-mile loop. The mid point is at Tucker, where lunch will be served. There will also be a drawing for over $3,000 worth of prizes.
Registrations can be made at Carbon County Recreation. The fee for the event is $15 if paid by Feb. 10, $20 afterward. The registration fee includes participation in the event, an official snow ride T-shirt, and a delicious dutch oven lunch. Registrations can be mailed to CCR; as well the address is 90 North 100 East Price, Utah 84501.
CCR is also holding a winter backpacking outing of Feb. 21. The fee is $20 per person. Each participant must be competent at snowshoeing and must be able to carry or pull your own gear. There is a preparation class that will be held on Feb. 19 in the Price Community Center.
Interested participants can contact Carbon County Recreation at 637-5092.
