Families can learn archery, trap shooting, rifle shooting, upland game hunting, turkey hunting, waterfowl hunting and even some basic fishing skills by attending at a free STEP OUTSIDE event sponsored by the Division of Wildlife Resources.
“The Division of Wildlife Resources invites families to share the outdoors, have fun and learn new skills by ‘stepping outside’ and attending the event,” said RaLynne Takeda, assistant hunter education coordinator for the DWR. “Friendly, patient and competent instructors will be available to lead participants through the basics. Even if you’ve never held a bow or a fishing rod, you’ll feel like a pro before the day is over.”
The event will take place Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Lee Kay Center for Hunter Education, 6000 West 2100 South in Salt Lake City. To participate, people must preregister by calling RaLynne Takeda at (801) 538-4753.
The event is free and all of the needed equipment will be provided. Lunch will be available on site for a fee. Preregistration is required and children must be at least 6-years-old to participate.
