Michelle Ruden makes a quick catch during a game earlier this year against Spanish Fork.

It was a bitter cold and windy day, but the Lady Dinos and the Emery Spartans sure heated things up in a wild match up last Tuesday afternoon.
When the Dinos took to the field, they were looking for their first Region 8 season victory while the Spartans were determined to make sure that this did not become a reality for Carbon.
The game kicked off with the Spartans jumping ahead of the Dinos 3-0 in the top of the first.
Carbon responded to this quick start with three runs of their own to tie the ball game up.
In the second inning, the Spartans came alive and scored seven runs on the Dinos. Carbon answered with two of their own in the bottom of the inning.
As the game progressed, both teams came to the realization that this ball game was one unlike any other they had competed in all year. It was loaded with action and was highly intense.
Entering the bottom of the sixth inning, Carbon found themselves trailing the Spartans, 20-9. This is when the team came alive.
With Region 8 bragging rights on the line, the Dinos rallied a comeback by scoring eight runs in the sixth. Emery could not answer the Dinos challenge in the seventh therefore, Carbon stepped back up to bat determined to snatch the victory away from Emery who was ahead by three points.
The bottom of the seventh found the Dinos giving all they had to claim a win. By the time Carbon team had three outs, they had scored two runs. This was only one run shy of a tie which would have forced the game into an eighth inning.
The final outcome however stands at 20-19 in favor of the Emery Spartans.
It was an intense game which came right down to the wire. Although the Dinos did not claim a victory, they did prove to the Spartans that Carbon is not a team to be taken lightly.
Michelle Ruden, Hailee Vigil and Brittany Pollastro each drove three runs in for Carbon during the wild and exciting game.
Carbon continues to show improvements with each game. As the season continues to progress, the Dinos will look for their first season win.
Following the spring break, the Dinos will resume competition April 22 when the travel to Lehi to face the Pioneers.
