Editor:
I am writing in response to a letter published in the Sun Advocate on April 8 concerning the community production of “Bye-Bye Birdie.”
It is really sad this person would choose to act as a harsh critic to a play she never even stayed for nor watched the end of. She wasn’t there to see the final scene of the play where good prevailed and lives changed for the better. She wasn’t there to witness that people do change and improve their lives.
I think it is sad that this person didn’t attend the play and find enjoyment in the wonderful talent of the actors and actresses and also that she didn’t appreciate the hard work and long hours that was put forth in this delightful production.
The only reward that these actors received was the satisfaction of a job well done.
I think it was a fine opportunity given to the youth of our community to participate in such a production and to learn of an era from the past.
I also think that when the play was finished the youth who participated in it gained confidence, self esteem and walked away with a song in their hearts.
I know that my son did.
