The women’s best ball tournament at Carbon Country Club attracts players from all over the state, as well as a few teams from Colorado. Participants say it is one of the biggest women’s tournaments in Utah and brings a lot of business to Carbon county.

The Tram Electric Two Women Best Ball has taken place for many years at the Carbon Country Club golf course.
According to head pro Tom King, this year’s event was as successful as ever.
“It fills up every year and the waiting lists are always a mile long,” King commented. “We could honestly have two shotgun starts.”
The tournament allows for a maximum of 68 teams. Sixty-seven teams participated this year, with one no-show.
The golf industry is down throughout the nation because of the economy, King said. Carbon golf course is experiencing some of that slump.
However, the annual tournament helps Carbon county’s economy, according to Barbara Migliaccio, the president of the Carbon Country Club Ladies Golf Association.
“It brings a lot of business in,” Migliaccio stated. “The tournament is good business.”
The tournament is set up with four handicap flights. The top four finishers in each flight receive credit for merchandise in the pro shop.
“This is one of the largest women’s tournaments in the state,” club member Marilyn Zeller said.
The shotgun start tournament began at 9 a.m. Wednesday and was followed by an awards banquet at the country club.
