The Rocky Mountain Baseball school conducts fall camps each year for youth 18 years of age and younger. Each year a team from Carbon County competes in the camp, and this years team will host a tourney in conjunction with the annual fall camp.
The fall ball tournament is scheduled to take place at the College of Eastern Utah baseball field this Saturday. The Carbon team will play its first game at 11 a.m. against Provo and at 3 p.m. Carbon will play Springville.
So far this year, the Carbon team has had a successful season. The team remains undefeated with a 4-0 record.
The team is comprised of local baseball athletes from various schools. In the first game of the season, Carbon defeated Payson 7-5 and Tommy Larsen struck out 10 batters.
The second match up of the season pitted Carbon against Mountain View. In this game, Carbon’s pitcher Troy Grundy had 15 strike outs.
Carbon easily defeated Mountain View a second time by the final score of 6-3 and Larsen had 12 strike outs in this game. Corey Olsen also had three singles and a double in this match up.
Finally, Carbon defeated West 1-0 in a game which was pitched by Grundy. Once again Grundy had a successful performance as he had 18 strike outs.
The Carbon team will compete this weekend in Price, offering baseball fans from across the county to enjoy fall baseball at its best. The team will play again in the weeks to come as several cancelled games will be replayed in Price.
