Byron and Nancy Bentley visit Aldon Powell at a local care center as part of the PAWS program in Carbon County. The canine has been visiting Powell at the care center for many years. The local Wal-Mart joins with its corporate parent in donating a part of the daily profits on Dec. 1 to charity organizations annually. In 2001, the store donated $1,614 to Active Re-Entry and Helping hands for the groups’ programs. One of the programs is PAWS, where trained owners and animals visit shut-ins in the community. The company obtained a $1,000 non-federally funded grant to supplement the donation.
