The Carbon High Dinos boys basketball team scored their fourth victory this season against the Granite Farmers Wednesday night.
The Dinos hosted the Farmers at Carbon high and dominated the entire game.
By the half, Carbon lead the Farmers by the score of 40-28.
The second half of the game saw the Dinos outscored Granite 32-21, finishing the game with a score of 72-49.
Leading scorer for the Dinos was senior forward Jake Wood who scored 23 points. Nine of Wood’s points came from three three-point shots which lead the game for long distance shots completed.
Senior guard Matt Jewkes followed in scoring with 13 points, including one three-point basket to boost Carbon to a win.
The Dinos walked away victorious with a 23 point win over the Granite Farmers. This win leaves Carbon 4-5 for the season.
Carbon head coach Ted Bianco feels that the Dinos offensive game stepped up a couple of notches against the Farmers.
“Our offense ran the ball well, in fact, it was the best the ball’s been ran all year. We got kids involved in the game that have not been too involved so far this year. Jewkes stepped up his game, while Jake Wood ran the floor well and passed the ball good,” explained Bianco.
The Dinos had over 20 assists in the game which Bianco feels “is a good sign that our ball handling is improving.”
The defense of the Dinos has been exceptional all year, and was again played well Wednesday night.
The home game allowed Carbon to combine the defensive and offensive games to build a strong overall game.
The victory against Granite not only boosted the Dinos win column, but also the teams self esteem. Bianco feels that the momentum will carry over to the season which starts in Jan.
