HELPER/CEDAR CITY-Our beloved brother, uncle, nephew and longtime friend, Garry Hribar, 66, returned to “Home Plate” on March 23, 2018.
He was born in Price, Utah on March 11, 1952 to Anton “Tony” Hribar Sr. and Mary Radakovich and spent the majority of childhood playing baseball.
Garry was a longtime resident of Helper who began throwing and hitting a baseball with his twin brother from the time they could walk. He was an avid sports enthusiast who participated in two WBBA championship games, numerous Pony League, American Legion, high school and collegiate games. He graduated from Carbon High School in 1970 and received a baseball scholarship to C.E.U. After graduation from C.E.U., Garry attended the University of Utah in hopes of becoming a coach.
After his schooling, Garry worked at various places and eventually retired from Ampak in Cedar City where he made many lifelong friends. Garry will always be remembered for his generosity, kindness and as a standout player both on and off the field.
In remembrance of Garry and his love for baseball, the family suggests contributions to your local baseball association.
Garry is survived by his sister, Mary (Arlo) Smith, Seattle, WA; brothers, Tony Hribar Jr., (Kenneth Trimble), West Valley, Tommy Hribar, Helper; aunt, Millie Fox, Midvale; nephew, Owen; nieces, Arlene, Tabitha, Sara and Bonnie; 4 great-nephews, 4 great-nieces and a community of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, identical twin brother, Larry Hribar; his faithful companions, Lady, and Ginger who just recently passed.
Graveside service, Tuesday, March 27, 2018, 11:00 a.m., Price City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home Monday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Garry online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
