Price City Library offers many new experiences

Editor:
As a member of the Price City Library Board, I want to take this opportunity to inform the citizens of Carbon County regarding the current status of the Price City Library.  The board is proud of the additions and improved experience the library has to offer.
The biggest event to happen in the past year was the separation of the Juvenile and Adult Fiction sections of the library.  We utilized the existing basement for a Juvenile Fiction section of the library.  This has allotted more space in the library, and it makes the visit much more enjoyable for patrons.  There are pillows and crannies in the basement that are utilized so young people can come into the library and curl-up with a good book.  The space open upstairs has couches and tables, so adults can read comfortably or work in study groups as well.
Every week there is a story time offered in the basement where a librarian reads a story to the children, and the children participate in a craft that is related to the featured book.  There are tables available for puzzles and games downstairs; the library welcomes children who are interested in learning.
In 2017, the library staff planned parties for Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The visit from Santa Claus at the annual Christmas party is always a success for those who attend.  Santa sits with the children and reads books, asks about their Christmas wishes and plans, and spreads joy to all who attend.
The Price City Library offers after school programs for young people in the area: this year, the library organized a community Raspberry Pi program with James Liin, a local computer expert; young people who attended this learned many tips for computer programming.  They offer a homeschool program where students who are homeschooled can attend with other students and learn together; the most recent meeting taught story writing skills, and students are producing a children’s book that will be made available to them when they finish.
Free wifi is available for library patrons.  The staff is very helpful, and they will go out of their way to ensure that your library experience is a positive one.
We thank our many patrons, and we encourage those of you who have been absent from the library for a time to return and discover the new experiences available at the Price City Library.
