Coombs Tryon Hall, 78, of Green River, UT passed away on September 19, 2018. He was born on February 29, 1940 in Salina, UT to Elmo Tryon & Lorea Coombs Hall.
Coombs married his sweetheart, Maxine Torgerson on June 25, 1960 in Koosharem. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Coombs and Maxine raised their two children in Green River, UT.
He began his career with the Utah Department of Transportation and worked his way up to Survey Party Chief. His work ethic was recognized and he was hired by H.E. Lowdermilk as Superintendent and later became Vice President. He finished his career as a Superintendent with WW Clyde and Co. Dad supervised the building of many roads in the Intermountain West and earned the recognition of Superintendent of the Year from the A.G.C. Coombs enjoyed his retirement by driving the Green River Ambulance, working as a docent at the John Wesley Powell Museum, and delivering meals to the senior citizens in the community.
Coombs was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Maxine were called as service missionaries at Temple Square. He was serving as the Ward Executive Secretary at the time of his passing.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine; children, Greg (Diane) Hall of Pleasant Grove, UT and Penni (Ed) Bailey of Salt Lake City, UT; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathleen (Jerry) Hamm.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Green River Ward Chapel. Friends may call on Friday, September 28 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and also prior to services on Saturday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Teasdale Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
