Ball field renovations, wheelchair accessibility at library on city wish list

Price City held a public hearing at council meeting last week to add two projects to the Capital Improvement Plan.
The plan is an overall list of project needs within the city. Development Director Nick Tatton explained the two proposed projects are to renovate the high school baseball and softball fields, and making the basement of the library accessible, according to the American’s with Disabilities Act.
The ballfield project is being proposed in conjunction with Carbon School District. The fields will be available for public use when they are not being used by the schools.
The proposal is to apply to the Community Impact Board (CIB) for a grant of $2,187,500 and a loan of $937,500. The school district will be responsible for repayment of a portion of the loan.
Those negotiations will take place when and if the grant is awarded. Of course, explains, Tatton, there is no guarantee the CIB will approve the grant and loan the way it is being proposed. If it comes back different the city council will have the option to decide not to take it.
The library project will include a Community Development Block Grant proposal of $100,000.
There were no public comments and a change to the Price City Capital Improvement Plan was made by a unanimous vote of the council. A copy of the entire Capital Improvement Plan is available at the city office.
