Carbon softball defeated rival Emery 12-2 in a non-region battle on Thursday night at the Carbon County Fairgrounds.
Playing in front of packed ball park under the lights, the Dinos took down the Spartans in five innings with the ten-rule applied.
Thursday’s game was also the second win of the season over Emery, they defeated the Spartans last month 16-4 at Emery.
“It was a fun game, we won all three games and I was really proud with how everybody played today,” said Carbon Head Coach Wade Williams.
Junior Dekota Kraushaar hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to give the Dinos an early lead.
Kraushaar also pitched for the Dinos and only gave one run in four innings of work.
“She threw way good, she hit her spots really good and we worked in her new spins. I thought she threw outstanding, it was fun to catch for her today,” said Carbon catcher Kaytlyn Cripps.
The Dinos wouldn’t allow a run to score until the top of the fourth inning and would only allow the other Emery run to score in the top of the fifth.
Carbon scored in every inning of the game including three straight innings of two or more runs.
Kelsey Sorenson and Lyndsey Madrigal each had three hits and two runs in the game.
Kraushaar added a RBI double in the bottom of the fourth and finished the day with two hits and three RBIs.
“I can’t say enough good things about Dekota, she always brings it, she is a gamer,” said Williams.
The Dinos used a big fifth inning putting up five runs including a walk-off two RBI single by Clarissa Noyes to end the game.
Thursday’s non-region win over Emery brings the Dinos current win streak to eight games and a 17-3 overall record.
Carbon now turns their attention to their remaining Region 14 games in hopes of capturing the school’s first ever softball region title.
“We need to continue to play as a team, keep our sticks going, and continue to play the great defense we have been playing,” said Cripps.
The Dinos will hit the road on Tuesday to take on region opponent Providence Hall, a team they defeated last month at home 11-0.
