Carbon Baseball Gets Comeback Win Over Delta

Carbon’s Zac Bradley swings at a pitch in the bottom of the second inning during Tuesday’s win against Delta.
Carbon Baseball defeated the Delta Rabbits 11-10 on Tuesday at Helper Legion Field.
Though his team got the Region 14 victory over the Rabbits, Carbon Head Coach Jeff Cisneros was not happy with his team’s performance.
“I didn’t see a lot of positives in our effort today other than we won a ball game, which is always a positive. Our effort throughout the ball game was not good and it is not where it needs to be at this point of the season,” said Cisneros.
Senior Triton Abeyta got the start on the mound for Carbon and pitched the first three innings without giving up a run and had six strikeouts. Jadon Robertson hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the second to get the Dinos on the board first.
Leading the Rabbits 4-0 in the top of the fifth, the Dinos gave up six runs after Abeyta walked three straight batters to start the inning.
Carbon added a run off of a Robertson single in the bottom of the fifth. Errors and walks by the Dinos would allow Delta to add four more runs in the top of the sixth to take a commanding 10-5 lead.
The Dinos wouldn’t quit in the bottom of the seventh, Zac Bradley opened the last half of the game with a double off a Delta error.
Delta would put Carbon on the base paths with two walks and allow them to get back in the game thanks two three errors in the bottom of the seventh.
After Nate Olson scored on a wild pitch by Delta, Ty Anderson singled with one out to score Adrian Sanchez.
With Anderson advancing all the way to third, he would score on a wild pitch in walk off fashion to get Carbon the win.
Robertson led the Dinos with three hits and four RBIs while Anderson also had three hits.
Despite the sloppy performance, Carbon junior Collin Lewis said he was glad his team came together and didn’t give up.
Lewis also said that his team needs to come together and play better in the upcoming games.
“We got to pick it up a lot. We had a bad game, this was one of our worse games and we are  way better than this,” said Lewis.
Tuesday’s win against the Rabbits give the Dinos a 2-0 record in region and an overall record of 9-5.
Carbon will play a make-up game from two weeks ago on Wednesday against Providence Hall in Herriman. Friday afternoon they will head to Delta in a rematch of today’s wild game.
