Carbon High basketball player Kelsey Sorenson signed a Letter of Intent with Big Bend Community College on Monday.
Sorenson signed her LOI to play basketball next season with Big Bend in front of friends and family inside Carbon High School’s counseling office.
Big Bend Community College is located in Moses Lake, Washington and competes in the Northwest Athletic Conference.
She chose to sign with Big Bend because of the feelings she received during the recruiting process.
“I just wanted to feel good about the school I was going to and whenever I talked about it or learned more about it, it just felt like it was the right school to go to,” said Sorenson.
Even though Sorenson has yet to be on the campus but what she has learned so far about the people and environment at Big Bend really appealed to her as well when picking out what school to attend.
“The girls on the team were just really inviting and nice. They also have a good institute program which is important to me,” said Sorenson. “We did FaceTime visits and they showed me around and talked to a lot of different people, like the staff.”
After her senior season at Carbon, Sorenson was named First-Team All-State by the Deseret News. During her senior year she averaged 14.1 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 3.2 steals and 1.8 blocks per game.
“Kelsey has worked hard for four years and she has earned every honor that she has received this year. We are extremely proud of her and we were fortunate to have a player of her caliber in our program,” said Carbon Head Coach Ted Bianco.
Sorenson led the Dinos to a share of the Region 14 title and an appearance in 3A State Quarterfinals in 2018.
She also has been a key member of the Carbon High Softball team as well during her career at Carbon.
