The Carbon girl’s golf team took fourth at the 2018 3A State Golf Tournament in Richfield on Wednesday.
Even though the Dinos struggled on day one of the tournament, they did make the cut for day two.
“We had a mediocre first day, just a little disappointing and flat,” said Carbon Head Coach Kenji Otani.
After day one, the Dinos finished tied for fourth with a team score of 398.
Jordan Bianco shot an 87 on day one to lead the Dinos while Sam King shot an 96, Kristen Etzel shot a 107 and Jessica Hansen finished with 108.
The Dinos came back on day two with a better score of 372.
“I asked the girls for at least a five shot decrease per girl and they did it,” said Otani.
The combined score for both days was 770 to give the Dinos the fourth place trophy.
Bianco’s 169 total earned her fourth place All-State honors.
“Every girl on this team made big strides the last two days,”said Otani.”It has been a good season and I can’t wait for next year.”
Otani and the Dinos will return all four golfers that participated in state next season.
The fourth place finish at state capped off a season where the Dinos took home the Region 14 title.
