Barry Bryner

PRICE/DRAPER-Barry Reed Bryner, 70, passed away February 10, 2018 at his home in Draper, Utah.
He was born December 2, 1947 in Price, Utah to William Holly and Maxine Holden Bryner.
Barry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He attended Carbon High School, C.E.U. and Weber State University.  Barry worked for the US Postal Service, Price City Police Department and the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office where he was a former Carbon County Sheriff.
Barry was a man of many interests and talents.  He authored three books on canoeing, guitar, and western cooking.  He loved to cook Chinese food and make and cure many different types of sausage.   He loved riding his Harley, hunting, fly fishing, and liked to “beat the Provo River to a froth”. He was an incredible musician, who expertly played a variety of instruments, piano in particular, but he made playing any instrument he held in his hands look easy to do.  He could play by ear and also read and composed music, as well as led a symphony orchestra.
He was also an expert craftsman, making some of the highest quality hunting knives to ever be created.  There are still many “Bear Claw” knives in Carbon County, and all over the world.
After his police years, he blended the two skills and opened a piano repair business entitled the “Tip Top Piano Shop.”  It was not uncommon to walk in and see a piano taken apart into many thousands of pieces, each to be refurbished, repaired, and all put back together again, better than new.
Preceded in death by parents, William Holly Bryner, and Maxine Holden.
Survived by his children and grandchildren; siblings Collin Bryner (Barbara), Bountiful, Ellen Serfustini, and Sherryl Bryner, both of Price.
Funeral service, Friday, February 16, 2018, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service.  Interment, Price City Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
