Lois W. Olsen was born October 8, 1927 to Clarence and Henrietta Gee Wilson in Duchesne Utah. Her feet became firmly planted as a resident of Carbon County for 82 years upon her family moving to Spring Canyon when she was six years old. After Spring Canyon she lived in Latuda until the mine closed in 1966. She and Bill then built their home in Helper where she resided until July of this year (2017).
She married her sweetheart, Reid (Bill) Olsen, on September 1, 1946 at her parents’ ranch in Duchesne. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple in 1964. They were blessed to enjoy 67 years together prior to Bill’s passing in July of 2012.
She is a graduate of Carbon High (Class of 46). As an active member of the LDS church she has served in many callings & leadership positions; as well as being involved in various community activities. She always can be counted upon to get the job done and to help others. All of her children and grandchildren have benefitted from her crochet and quilting skills.
Her children are Ginger Lynne (Ernie) Miller, Syracuse UT; Reid/Rick (Shelly) Olsen, Price UT; Steven (Gail) Katy TX and Bill (Deanna) Olsen, Delta CO. She has 12 grandchildren and soon- to-be 30 great-grand children.
Lois celebrated this milestone event earlier this year on a cruise with most of her children & their spouses. This week she will be honored with a family celebration dinner at the Maddox Ranch House. Any memories or wishes can be sent to her at 6086 S. Ridgeline Dr. #230, Ogden UT 84405.
Congratulations Mom on the accomplishment of longevity, the life you have lived, the “spunk” you display and the example you are. We love you.
