More than 100 blankets have been donated to the Carbon County Ambulance just in time for colder weather. With promotional help from KUSA FM 100, and many donors, the number of blankets delivered to the ambulance garage and the radio station far exceeded the original goal of ten blankets.
Carbon County Ambulance EMT 1A and public relations representative Janarie Cammans said the final tally of donations was 110 blankets. The donated blankets are in a variety of fabrics, knits and sizes, both store-bought and hand-made.
Cammans related, “Many times calls involve infants and children in emergency situations. In all the chaos they don’t have any control of what is happening around them, and a nice, warm blanket that they can cuddle with gives them a sense of calm in many situations.” She said they also carry stuffed animals for the little ones to hold onto, which they get to keep.
Cammans expressed thanks to the blanket donors, indentifying them as Tawna Magnuson, Kenyen Taylor, Lanie Taylor, Jean Peterson, Laurie Tryon, Kathy Fausett, Newborns in Need, United Way, Mrs. Blanton’s Student Government class at Mont Harmon Middle School and Evelyn Olsen and Lila Jewkes of the Carbonville Relief Society.
Cammans related in all her years working EMS, she has lived by one quote: “People don’t really care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
