The Carbon High School girls’ golf team traveled to Sleepy Ridge Golf Course May 17 to participate in the State Tournament. Carbon did not make it to the second day of play, finishing in 12th, with a score of 235 points; only the top ten advance to the second day of play. Aubrey Fausett led the team with 65 points, Laini Davis and Gwyn Kardelis made 57 and Jordan Bianco 56.
“All of the girls had a great start,” said head coach Kenji Otani. “Through the first five we were as good as any team there. Unfortunately, this game is fickle and we lost the momentum and couldn’t regain it. The girls gave 100% and I can’t ask for more. I am very proud of all of them. It is bitter sweet telling the team we’ll get them next year, for my seniors this was next year.”
