Dominant win over ALA sets up key region home match with Juab for Dino wrestlers
With the region meet just a few weeks away, the Carbon High wrestling team is busy gathering one important thing needed to succeed down the season stretch.
Momentum.
The Dinos gathered crucial momentum during a dominate 65-6 win over American Leadership Academy on Tuesday night.
CHS Wrestling head coach Steve Woodhouse said the team has come a long way since the start of the season.
“I thought the team looked really good out there,” he said after the win. “We’re starting to peak at the right time.”
No longer are they rushing things. They’ve learned to take their time and find an opening to get an advantage.
And it’s helping the team attain success.
“We’ve told the team to work on wearing out their opponents,” Woodhouse said.
The Dinos have a chance to gather even more momentum with a home match against Juab on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 5:30 and 7:00 p.m.
The Dinos will have one more home match against South Sevier on Jan. 23 at 5:30 and 7 p.m.
The regionals will be heald at the Sevier Valley Center from Feb. 7-8.
The State Tournament will be held at the Maverick Center in Salt Lake City on Feb. 14-15.
“The guys are working hard and we’re excited with where we are at right now with the region meet just a few weeks away,” he said.
