GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Our loving son, husband, father and grandfather, Gary L. Jones, age 57, passed away Sept. 15, 2008 after a long battle with ALS.
He was born Aug. 25, 1951 to Ross and Yvonne Jones in Price. On April 3, 1971, he married Deborah Gale in Price.
Gary worked as a brakeman for the Dand RGW Railroad until a disability retirement in 1995.
He had a deep love of all sports, especially golf, baseball, football and fishing. He loved to spend his time equally between Lake Powell and the golf course.
He loved his music and had a great sense of humor.
Gary will be loved and missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is survived by his mother, Yvonne Jones; sister Marilyn (Kevin) Jewkes; and brother, Randy (Jane) Jones; his loving caregiver and wife of 37 years, Deborah Jones; their two daughters and son, Kristie Jones, Brenda (Andrew) Leonard and Brison Jones; and grandchildren Caleb, Kelcie and Keirra Hovland; and Aidan and Dani Leonard; nieces Niki and Tami; and nephews Kevin and Jesse. He was preceded in death, just four days earlier, by his father, Ross L. Jones.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be at his home on Friday, Sept.19, from 11a.m. to 2p.m.
Donations can be made in Gary’s name to the local Hospice or the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ALS society.
