Hilma Pollock Birch
CARBONVILLE – Our loving, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Hilma Pollock Birch died Jan. 20, 2008 in Carbonville.
She was born Dec. 25, 1913 in Kanarraville to Henry Pollock and Alice Williams Pollock. She married Floyd Birch in the spring of 1931 in Kanab. They were the happiest of married couples.
Floyd and Hilma traveled the world together and danced everywhere they went.
Hilma was loved by everyone. When asked why, she said, “I treat people better than anyone else does.”
She was a very beautiful woman with a rare wit. Her grandchildren used to say they were raised with love, humor and happiness.
She is survived by her children, Connie Bogenschutz, Bonnie Birch and Keith Birch, who diligently looked after Hilma; grandchildren, Tiffani Chacon, Rhett Cook, Kristi Cook, Rocky Bogenschutz, Lucky Bogenschutz, Vicki Bogenschutz and Tammi Bogenschutz; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Denor (Irene) Pollock; and sister, Freda Woodbury. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Clair Birch; daughters, Gina Cherie Birch Cook and Patsy Jean Birch; and six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Spring Glen LDS Chapel, 1985 West 4000 North. A viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be in the Price City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
Terry Winstead
BOUNTIFUL – Terry Dawn Mangus Winstead, 82, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, in Bountiful.
Born Nov. 8, 1925 in Winter Quarters, the daughter of Nick Mangus and Clara Kandaris Mangus. Married William C. Winstead Sept. 9, 1946 in Hernando, Miss.
Terry was a clerk at the Salt Lake City Post Office, retiring after 21 years.
She was a member of the 1st Southern Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Dick) Grotepas; son, William (Jennifer) Winstead; grandchildren, Eric and Lisa Grotepas; Hawk, Elizabeth and Amelia Winstead; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Harry and Mike Mangus; and four sisters, Helen Kelley, Bessie Del Priore, Dorothy Haberman and Sophie Harvey.
The family wishes to thank Heritage Place and Affinity Hospice for the wonderful care given to their mother.
