Carbon swim takes third

For the Carbon High swim teams coming up last in region action has been the fact for the last several years. But this year both the Dinos swim teams have made their move to the next level and each placed third, beating out Delta..
Carbon girls easily defeated Delta for the third place spot even though they were down women swimmers due to illness and other problems. The Dinos girls team predict that Richfield will be next to fall next year. Freshman Krissia Beatty, led the Carbon Dinos with two first place finishes. Beatty holds the Carbon High swimming backstroke record with a 107.50. The record was previously set by Natalie Nelson in 1995 with a time of 1:09.14. Coach Cox acknowledges the “Beatty has several more records in her sites. She has been helping to push swimmers in workouts and in meets, Carbon will improve quickly.” Carbon boys were expected to take fourth but pulled off a 3rd place finish by 2 points. Cox was impressed with their performance, “Great job Carbon men.”
