Megan Garvin continues to play the role of team leader in all aspects of the game. Here she takes the serve in game against North Sanpete.

If there has been one fault in an otherwise flawless team, it has been their tendency to play at the level of their opponent. Even though they are winning their matches mostly in three straight games, they have not always played their sharpest against the weaker teams.
That was until Thursday night down in Emery when they again swept the match 25-17, 25-9, 25-5. Emery is in a rebuilding year and also working with a new coach so they are not one of the powerhouses in the region this season. But any given night anything can happen.
But Coach Johnson has been asking her players to give her their best each and every outing, no matter who they play and last night she got her wish. “I am beginning to see the consistent play we need from the girls, no matter who our opponent is,” she stated. “I definitely saw that in this match.”
Game one was the closest with it taking the Dinos a little time to really hit their stride. The Spartans played strong and hung in most of the game, but just could not defeat the stronger Carbon squad. Game two and three was nothing but Dino power as they quickly finished off the match.

Julia Potts sets for Megan Garvin during an earlier game.

Johnson again complimented the play of Megan Garvin for being an overall player. “She leads the team with kills every game, but is also one of our stronger defensive players and that is unusual for a middle blocker. She is consistent and an overall great player.”
Garvin had 15 kills and seven defensive digs on the night. Erika Potts had six kills and four service aces in the match. Julia Potts added 14 defensive digs and 20 set assists in the sweep.
The Dinos will be on the road next week with a region match-up against Juan Diego on Monday October 2. They head to Cedar City for a non-region match with Canyonview on Wednesday Oct. 4. the next home game will be Oct. 9 against Delta.
