Jack Otani
CLEAR CREEK – Longtime resident of Carbon County, Jack Otani, passed away Nov. 12, 2006 in Arizona.
He was born Sept. 27, 1922 in Worland, Wyo., to Kichisaburo and Kishino Iyechika Otani.
Survived by wife, Sei; children, Jack (Rebecca), Bonnie Mae, Kay K., Randy and Kenji; grandchildren, Derek, Kelli, Kamren and Kelcy. Preceded in death by parents; brother, George; and daughter-in-law, Kelly.
Memorial service Wednesday, Nov. 29, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will greet friends at Mitchell’s Wednesday one hour prior to service.
Beth Robinson
PRICE – Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Bethel Jerline Ciscell Robinson, age 80, passed away Nov. 24, 2006 in Provo, while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Sept. 18, 1926 in Cornina, Ark., to Mike Marion and Flaudie Mae Henderson Ciscell. Married Thomas Jefferson Robinson Aug. 28, 1944 in Charleston, Mo.
Member of the First Baptist Church.
Mom loved quilting, coloring with her grandchildren, gardening, cooking, and collecting dolls.
Survived by husband, Thomas Robinson; children, Theda Rae Ussery, Helper; Sue (Earl) Cullum, Lawrence; Gary Thomas Robinson, Richard Eugene Robinson, Marilyn Jerline Robinson and Dan “Bear” Lynn (Victoria) Robinson, all of Price; Joseph Michael (Denise) Robinson, Spring Glen; sister, Mary (Elmer) Teffertillar, Grandchain, Ill.; 31 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by daughter, Catherine Darlene Stone.
Funeral service Thursday, Nov. 30, 1 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
Fairis Tallerico
HELPER – Our loving mother,grandmother and friend, Fairis Kathleen Nay Tallerico, age 85, passed away Nov. 26, 2006 in Price.
She was born March 7, 1921 in Centerfield to George Allen and Laura Lydia Hansen Nay. Married John Tallerico Dec. 10, 1937 in Wellington. He died Jan. 21, 2000.
Fairis was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a longtime resident of Castle Gate prior to moving to Helper. Mom enjoyed painting and crocheting. She will be dearly missed by her family and a community of friends.
Survived by four sons, John R. (Leslie) Tallerico, Roger Tallerico, both of Helper; Roland (Becky) Tallerico, Roy Dean Tallerico, both of Price; two sisters, Viona (Rex) Henderson, Spanish Fork, Dawna Carey, Portland, Ore.; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by infant daughters, Kathleen and Laurene; infant son, Ray Dell; granddaughters, Michele Marie Tallerico Hamner and Traci Tallerico; and brothers and sisters, Leila Sillitoe, Lola Oldroyd, Mary Nielson, Fawn Dola Carroll, Milo Nay, George Nay, Doyle Nay and Nelli Burrows.

Bucky Anderson
KENILWORTH – Our loving son, brother and longtime friend, Kent Eugene Anderson, age 50, passed away suddenly Nov. 25, 2006 while at work at Andalex coal mine.
He was born Feb. 13, 1956 in Price to Merlin and Fern Hyatt Anderson.
Bucky was a lifelong resident of Carbon County, where he was employed with UtahAmerican Energy at the Andalex mine. He enjoyed working with his hands, fishing, hunting, playing cards, and rooting for the Cowboys. Bucky had the gift of gab, he loved mining coal with his buddies, and shootin the breeze with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him.
Survived by his loving mother, Fern Anderson; brothers and sisters, Eddie (Margit) Anderson, Jerry (Kathie) Anderson, Randy (Gayla) Anderson, Merlynn Anderson, Connie (Paul) Burdis, and Richard Anderson. Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many longtime friends. He was preceded in death by father, Merlin, Anderson; and grandparents.
Funeral service, Thursday, Nov. 30, 11 a.m., at the Helper LDS Stake Center. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment, Thursday, 2 p.m., in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Geraldine Bigler
HEBER – A beautiful spirit, Geraldine Smith Bigler, left this earth on Nov. 23, 2006. She was born on October 22, 1961 to Billie J. and Maurine Smith.
“Gee” to all who knew her was the most kind hearted, loving spirit you would ever meet. She always lived as a free spirit and lived life to the fullest. To know her was to love her.
She gave birth to a daughter Amber Maurine Anderson on Feb. 11, 1980. In 2004 she married the love of her life Kyle Bigler. Together they were helping raise her beautiful grandkids, Sage and Gabe, her reason for living.
She is now back in the arms of her Dad and Grandpa Bert. We can not imagine life without Gee. Life will never be the same without her. We all will love and miss her more than you know.
Survived by mother, Maurine Smith of Price; daughter, Amber Anderson of Portland, Ore.; husband, Kyle Bigler of Heber City; two grandkids, Sage Peltier and Gabriel Morris; sisters, Lola (John) Tarbuck of Evanston, Wyo.; Sharon (Glade) Givens of Wallsburg; Joy Givens of Tabiona; Sandy Jones of Helper; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins that will all miss her so much. Preceded in death by dad, Billie J. Smith.; nieces, Crystal Givens, and Shaylee Givens; nephew, Clinton Givens; and grandparents.
Family services have already taken place under the direction of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home.
DeMar Hansen
PRICE – Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, DeMar Edward Hansen, age 87, passed away peacefully Nov. 25, 2006 at his home while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born March 23, 1919 in Centerfield, to James and Mary Jacobsen Hansen. Married “His Girl” Katherine Giraud on Sept. 2, 1941 in Monterey, Calif. Demar and Katie raised three wonderful sons, Eddie, Bill and Ryan.
DeMar served his country in the U.S. Army’s 4th Air Depot Group and was honorably discharged after World War II. He retired as a hard working member of the Pipefitters Local Union 140 in 1981. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and was well known throughout the county for his beautiful vegetable garden and yard.
Survived by devoted wife of 65 years, Katie; three sons, Eddie (Linda) of Montrose, Colo.; Bill; Ryan (Dorthy), both of Price; 10 loving grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends. Preceded in death by parents; and six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street, Price. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery with military honors by the Price American Legion Post 3. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Notre Dame Building fund.
Elwood Baker
PRICE/BELEN, N.M. – Elwood (Woody) M. Baker, 75, passed away Monday, Nov. 22, 2006 at his home in Belen, N.M., after a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 8, 1931 in Joseph to Joseph E. Baker and Lillian E. Myers.
He attended school in Carbon and Emery counties. In 1951 he graduated from North Emery High School in Huntington. He then went to work at Hillfield Air Force Base in Layton. He was later employed for many years at the Nevada Test site near Las Vegas, Nev. After he retired, Elwood and his wife, the former Elizabeth Brunyansky Robinson moved to Belen, N.M. They were married in 1953 and she preceded him in death in 1994.
Elwood will be remembered for his positive attitude about life and his valiant determination to overcome his life’s many obstacles. His wit, laughter, and love could brighten any day. He was a giant among men, and loved by many.
He is survived by sisters, Marcella Rhodes of Price; Deloris Marvidikis of Cleveland; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parent; brother, two sisters, two stepbrothers, and stepsisters.
The family would like to give special thanks to Richard and Carolyn Barron, the wonderful staff at Odyssey Hospice, and all others who rendered so much compassionate, loving service on his behalf.
A funeral service will be Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Albuquerque, N.M., under the direction of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 505-842-8800.
