Louisa Hurst


CLEVELAND – Louisa Potter Hurst, 95, of Richfield, and formerly of Cleveland, passed away Nov. 19, 2006.
She was born Feb. 13, 1911 in Cleveland to Joseph and Agnes McFarlane Potter. She married Robert John Hurst on March 26, 1934 in Price. Their marriage was later solemnized on Aug. 14, 1969 in the Manti LDS Temple.
She attended Snow College and graduated with her associated degree in 1931.
Robert preceded her in death on April 6, 1961. Together they had three children, Robert M. (Janet) Hurst, Salt Lake City; Clyde J. (Julia) Hurst, Richfield; and Joy L. (Russell) Mickelson, Las Vegas, Nev.
Louisa was an active member of the LDS Church. She served in the Primary, MIA, Sunday school, Relief Society and family history organizations. As a young woman she loved tap dancing and always enjoyed good music.
Her career included secretarial positions, teacher of business courses and registrar of College of Eastern Utah in Price.
Her favorite activities included candy making, crocheting, needlepoint, reading and gardening.
Louisa is survived by children, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by husband; and brothers, Sydney Matthias Potter, Joseph Duncan Potter, Edgar Sampson Potter, James Harold Potter and Joseph Warren Potter.

Anthony Jensen


KENILWORTH – Anthony “Flip” Drake Jensen, loving son and friend, passed away Nov. 19, 2006 in Kenilworth.
He was born Nov. 13, 1983 in Price to Steven and Robin Litster Jensen.
He was employed with UtahAmerican Energy, formerly Andalex Resources.
Anthony was a free spirit who enjoyed skateboarding, snowboarding, four-wheeling, golf and playing the guitar. Anthony also loved to mine coal, fish, and play Nintendo. But his real passion was his love for life.
Anthony is survived by parents; sisters, Brandi Baker of Richfield; Lacy Jensen of Wellington; brother, Billy Jo (Christy) Lange of Price; Grandma Litster; Anita Litster; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and the love of his life, April Brown. Anthony is preceded in death by Grandma and Grandpa Jensen; Grandpa Litster; Cousin JR Draney; and nephew, Levi Blye Johnson.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 25, 11 a.m., at the Wellington LDS Stake Center, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial, Wellington City cemetery, under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.


Irene Dees


PRICE/FEDERICKSBURG, Va. – Charlotte Irene Murray Dees, age 85, passed away Nov. 21, 2006 in Fredericksburg, Va.
She was born Nov. 17, 1921 in Walker County, Ala., to Earnest and Annie McMillin Murray. Married Carl Frank Dees Sr., Feb. 4, 1946 in Taylorsville, Ill. He passed away June 18, 1980.
Irene was a longtime resident of East Carbon. She drove bus for several years at the Ann Self Training Center and also worked as a dietitian at Castleview Hospital. She was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star, NAOMI Chapter 13.
Irene had a passion for life, her family and friends.
Survived by children, Carla Dees, Cecil (Christina) Dees, Carl Frank (Mary) Dees Jr., Calvin (Doreen Kay) Dees, Lisa Kapaska, Catherine (Khamp) Sykhammountry, Jana (Shawn) Olsen; brother, Norman Murray; grandchildren, Stacie, Maria, Jeanette, Melynda, Brandy, Amanda, Steven, Michael, Carrie, Misty, Mallory, Christian, Carlee, Bretton, Dylan, Brayden, Cailyn; and 18 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; husband; son, Clifford David Dees; and one brother and two sisters.
Funeral service, Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, 2 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Friday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price city cemetery.


Kay Gibson


HELPER – Our wonderful and loving mother, Katherine Black Gibson, age 84, passed away Nov. 20, 2006 in Price.
She was born July 18, 1922 in Blanding, to Acel and Susan Katherine Davidson Black. Married Wallace B. (Tubby) Gibson Oct. 25, 1938 in Price. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. He passed away on March 17, 1986.
Kay was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was the sports director of young women for many years.
She enjoyed coaching the girls’ softball team, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a great cook and made the best banana cream pies. Kay will be dearly missed by her family and many longtime friends.
Survived by children, Barbara (Jim) Beason; Mava (Bob) Farrell, Stan (Maurine) Gibson, Clifford (Karen) Gibson, all of Helper; sister, LaDean Weight, Grantsville; stepbrother, Louis Black, Anaheim, Calif.; sister-in-law, Leona Black, Provo; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Wallace; son, Leonard Gibson; grandson, Kevin Ray Gibson; and brothers and sisters.
Funeral service Saturday, Nov. 25, 11 a.m., Helper LDS Stake Center. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City cemtery.


Sheila Sartori


HELPER – Sheila Ann Sartori, loving mother and wife, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Helper on Nov. 17, 2006.
Sheila was born to Guy and Nancy Waddoups on Aug. 20, 1970 in Norfork, Va. Sheila married Michael James Sartori on Oct. 1, 1993 in Ogden.
Sheila loved to crochet afghans. She was an avid reader. She also loved to listen to music and her favorite group was Def Leppard. Sheila loved cats; she left behind her two babies, Tazz and Aurora. Sheila loved to collect teddy bears – ceramic or stuffed, she loved them all.
Sheila is survived by husband, Michael, Helper; daughters, Stephanie, Provo; Cherokee and Stacey Sartori, Wellington; and stepdaughter, Ashlee (Mike), Tooele. Also survived by mother-in-law, Jolene Sartori, Helper. Survived by Debbie Sartori, Wellington, Kathy (Louise) Bay, Helper; Sean Sartori, Kelly Sartori (Heidi), Audra Sartori (Victor), Salt Lake; nephews, Cameron and Matthew Sartori, Wellington; and good friend, LeAnn, Helper. Sheila is preceded in death by parents; and father-in-law, Duke Sartori.
Private memorial services will be at a later date.
The family would like to thank Officer Boyer and Officer Vose of the Helper police department and Nathan Hess of Fausett Mortuary for all the help and support given to the family.
Mom, we will miss you, Love Cherokee and Stacey.


Jerry Leek


SCOFIELD/MORONI – Jerry D. Leek died Nov. 20, 2006 in Moroni.
Born to Alta and Foster Leek on July 2, 1924 in Scofield.
Survived by wife, Francis Leek; brothers, William Leek, Sam Leek, Floyd Leek; and one sister, Shannon Wiggins.
Funeral Saturday, Nov. 25 at noon in Moroni at the LDS chapel. Viewing, 10:30 a.m. to noon at the church.
