Deadline for FYI – is Tuesday at 5 p.m. Submissions may be sent by regular mail, dropped off at the office at 845 East Main in Price or e-mailed to fyi@sunad.com. All items are subject to editing.
Immunization clinic hours – Clinics are scheduled at Southeastern Utah Health District Monday through Thursday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Castle Country Habitat for Humanity – is accepting applications. Volunteers along with board and committee members are needed. Donations may be sent to PO Box 724, Price, UT 84501. The office is located at 150 S. 700 E. Price, UT. For information, contact the organization at 637-9701.
Women’s cancer screening – Women 50 years of age or older may qualify for a free breast and cervical cancer exams and mammograms. For information, call the health district at 637-3671. Women ages 40 to 49 may qualify for a low-cost exam.
Cans for CARE-A-VAN – Donations assist the elderly with transportation to medical appointments. Bagged aluminum cans may be dropped off at Howa’s on Carbonville Road.
Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation – needs adult volunteers to feed orphaned animals and clean facilities. Donations are accepted. Call Debbie Pappas at 650-3441 for information.
Carbon Family Resource Center – Story time is Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. The free lending library open to the community. Library includes items for children, teens, parents and grandparents. CFRC is located at Castle Valley Center, 755 N. Cedar Hills Drive, Price.
Rape crisis hot line – Rape or domestic violence victims in the Carbon-Emery County area may contact the local 24-hour crisis line toll-free at 1-866-894-8610.
Carbon County Animal Shelter – AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Price library – Hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.; closed Sunday and holidays. Story time is Monday at 11 a.m. for toddlers, Tuesday at 5 p.m., Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m.
Family Support & Children’s Justice Center – offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. Crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families may use the nursery for respite, family crisis, court, doctors appointments, medical emergencies, mental health appointments, escaping family violence, attending parenting classes, divorce classes and AA/Narcotic Anonymous meetings. Parenting classes are scheduled Thursday at 1:30 p.m. For information, call the center at 637-0281. The center is collecting beds, dressers, couches/loveseats, tables and chairs, kitchen supplies/appliances and linens.
Helper library – Hours are Monday through Thursday, 1:30 to 7 p.m.; Friday, noon to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For information, contact the library at 472-5601.
Food handlers classes – are scheduled Dec. 6 at 9 a.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. in Price at Southeastern Utah Health District. Fees are required.
Events
The Messiah – will be presented Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m., at Price Civic Auditorium.
Thanksgiving meal – is planned Nov. 24 at the senior center in Price. Seniors will served from noon to 12:45 p.m. The community will be served from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m.
Helper Lions Club Santa Claus visit – is slated Nov. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Helper Civic Auditorium.
Children’s Organ Transplant Association fundraiser – Sponsored on behalf of Joshua Gale, the event is slated Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. at Emery County Recreation Center. For information or to reserve booths, call Shanae Butler or Tiffany Larsen at 435-381-2689.
Veterans
Veterans employment representative – is available Monday through Friday at the department of workforce services, 475 West Price River Drive. The representative will answer questions about benefits and assist with applications, employment and veterans issues. Contact Steve Wilkinson at 636-2343.

Helper Gun Club Nite Trap League – will start Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. The league is open to individuals and teams. For information, call Bill Curtice at 637-1086.
MOPS – The Mothers of Preschoolers group meets the second and fourth Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at Price Chapel.
BACA – meets at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at Kraync Motor, located at 98 South 300 East in Price.

Carbon County Triad – meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at Price Dispatch. Members focus on law enforcement and aging programs to assist the elderly.

Support Groups
Recovery classes – are scheduled Monday to Friday at the Golden Rule Mission in Helper from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Classes include relapse prevention, Big Book, 12 steps, traditions, spirituality and life skills. AA is 6 p.m. daily.
Price Recovery group – meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the CEU computer building.
Recovery Inc. – The self-help group for people with nervous symptoms and fears meets Thursday at 7 p.m. at Banasky Insurance, located at 6 W. Main , Price.
MS support group- meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at the health district in Price.
Grieving parent support group – For parents who have lost a child, the group meets Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Castleview classroom and the second Wednesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. at Active Re-Entry.
FUTURES – The Carbon County NAMI affiliate, a support group developed for families who have children with challenges, meets the first and third Wednesday of the month. The first Wednesday is designated as a caregiver support night. The third Wednesday is family activity night.

Single mothers support group – meets Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Price Community Center. No fees required.

Life Line pregnancy assistance and support – provides alternatives to abortion for women with unplanned pregnancies. Look Good, Feel Better – The American Cancer Society program helps women address the appearance related side effects of treatment. The group meets the first Monday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m. at Castleview Hospital.
