Local author Marjorie Jones is a rising star in the literary world. The Utah Chapter of Romance Writers of America recently named her the Utah romance writer of the Year for 2005. She was also awarded the Isolde Carlson Award for excellence in writing by the same organization.
Writing success has come very quickly for Jones. Her first novel, The Jewel and the Sword, was published in 2004. Her second novel, The Light Horseman, will be available in bookstores in March. She describes both works as historical romance novels. Medallion Press publishes both.
Jones also writes paranormal romance stories under the pen name Starla Childs.
Her book under that name, Firelight – Amorous Passageways, the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, is available through eXtacy books. A second paranormal romance will be released in August through Champaign books. The title is, Dawn of Love. Jones also writes short stories that are available as e-books through her Starla Childs web site.
Romance Writers of America is the largest non-profit organization of writers in the world, according to Jones. She currently serves as president of the Utah chapter. The national website lists 9,500 members with 144 local chapters.
Marjorie Jones will be featured at a book signing on March 2 at Nextime Wireless, located at 94 North, 200 East, in Price.
