The Mont Harmon Junior High Girls Basketball team is heading to play the undefeated girls from San Rafael this week to wrap up their season. They are 2-3 for the season in league play.
Both victories came against Helper Junior High.
Even though last year they were a championship team, this year they are playing with a much younger squad. Five freshmen went to play for the high school team and that left them with only four ninth graders and four eighth graders to field the team. For the first time two seventh graders are also playing.
It is a hardworking team that still is developing their talent. All 10 players are getting playing time. This gives the team depth and the second team can hold their own with most other team’s second teams.

For the Helper Junior High girls team it’s been a disappointing season. With one game left to play they have not managed a single win. The junior varsity squad, however, is fairing much better.
The team will travel to Canyon View for their final game this week.
Coach Charlie Felice expressed that his team has been getting stronger as the season has progressed.
“I think we are going to surprise a few teams at the league tournament,” he stated in a phone interview.
The Rams have had no real standout players, but the coach feels the entire team has begun to play well. The JV players also are showing some real promise.
Even with a losing season the girls are finally having something to cheer about.
