After completing the regular cross country season, Carbon Dino Paul Goodrich advanced to the state meet on Oct. 19. Goodrich was the only Dino athlete that qualified for state.
The Carbon athlete traveled to Salt Lake to compete in the meet. Here, Goodrich was expected by his coaches to finish in the top 10, but according to coach Stewart Foster, the Dino runner had suffered from the flu prior to the race.
Foster also explained that many of the top runners in the state had a difficult time at the state meet. The runner who entered the race ranked number one finished in sixth place. The Dino coach also explained that the second ranked runner from Juan Diego led the race, but passed out 100 yards away from the finish line.
Goodrich had successfully defeated most of the runners that were ahead of him during the state race indicated Foster. The Dino runner finished in 18th place out of 100 state qualifying runners.
The Carbon cross country coaches were happy with Goodrich’s finish and explained that the runner had a lot of courage to finish the long race.
