Letter to the Editor: Action against job losses

By Sun Advocate

In the July 27 issue of the Salt Lake Tribune there was an article about Ballard Medical Products of Draper, moving it’s operations to Mexico. This move is being ordered by parent company Kimberly Clark. Kimberly Clark had 2004 sales totaling $15.1 billion. They must be certain that in order to stay solvent, they must make more money than that in the future so to hell with the 450 Utahns who will lose their jobs as long as Kimberly Clark makes more money.
This is unfortunately not an isolated case of a company moving from this country to a third world country to improve their bottom line. It happens all the time. There are many reasons for this trend, but probably the worst is that our economy is being killed by the Bush administration in many ways. As long as his corporate buddies are getting richer, the common citizen of this country is expendable.
In the near future if you want to work in the United States, you will either have to be an illegal alien or displace one in a lettuce field because there will be not any other jobs.
If you want to make a statement about this situation, go to Kimberly Clark’s website and get a product list. E-mail them and tell them that you will no longer use their products and tell them why.
It’s just one small step, but that’s how to start showing that you object to our way of life being sold out from under us.
