David Viges


EAST CARBON – David Lynn Viges, age 42, passed away April 20, 2003 at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born June 6, 1960 in Phoenix, Ariz., to Lynn DeWalt and Rhea Arlene Rose Viges.
David understood grace and he was a committed child of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He had a great love for animals and was an avid supporter of the humane society. He loved music, computer programming and was a graduate of Bryman Computer School in Salt Lake.
David enjoyed working with the youth and he was a counselor in drug crisis.
Survived by mother, Rhea Arlene Tillotson, East Carbon; sister, Laurie L. Moore, Salt Lake; sister, Leslie R. Fale; and daughter, Marissa Jayn Mineer, Salt Lake. Preceded in death by father.
Funeral service Thursday, April 24, 1 p.m., East Carbon Community Church. Family will be at the church Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment, Valley View Cemetery, Sunnyside.


Katie Bruce


KENILWORTH – Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Katie Bruce, age 87, gracefully passed away in Salt Lake City on April 20, 2003.
She was born Jan. 22, 1916 in Sunnyside, the daughter of Pete and Agnes Savoni. Married Wesley L. Bruce June 28, 1938 in Price. He died April 11, 1979.
A kind, gentle woman who devoted her life to her family and friends, she was a faithful employee of Carbon County Nursing Home for many years and a member of the Italian Lodge.
Katie was a longtime resident of Kenilworth.
Survived by son, Thomas James (Gay), Nacona, Texas; daughter, Judy (Jeff) Judd, Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren, Natalie Gillespie, Todd Bruce, Kim (Matt) Allen, Brett (Becky) Judd, Quentin (Shelly) Judd, Brandy (Courtney) Clifford, Mitch Judd and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by brother, Julio Savoni.
Funeral service Friday, April 25, 10 a.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Thursday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.


Kenneth Cox


EAST CARBON – Kenneth Jay Cox, age 57, passed away April 17, 2003 at his home.
He was born March 6, 1946 in Athens, Ohio, to Marvin Stewart and Nellie Marie Glass Cox.
Kenneth enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting for arrowheads. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and working on old cars. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Survived by seven children, Tiara Cox, Wellington; Shane Cox, Castle Dale; Breezon Rea, Spanish Fork; Glenn Rea Jr., Wellington; Michele Alcagree, Debbie Hartlex, both of Ohio; K.C. Cox, New Mexico; two sisters and one brother, Kathlyn (David) Rea, Sunnyside; Clara (Bood) Pullins, Pomeroy, Ohio; Jerry (Joyce) Cox, Tiffin, Ohio; and four grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, one brother and one sister.
Graveside service Monday, April 28, 1 p.m., at Valley View Cemetery, Sunnyside. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home from 11:30 to 12:30.


Albert Medina


PRICE – Albert E. Medina, age 95, passed away April 19, 2003 in Price, while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 31, 1907 in Levi, N.M., to Demetrio and Beneriza Martinez Medina. Married Aurora Sandoval, she died. Married Annie Cruz Arellano Oct. 14, 1940 in Santa Fe, N.M. She died Jan. 30, 1992.
Albert was a member of the Spanish Assembly of God, where he was a teacher and deacon for 53 years.
Resident of Carbon County since 1944. Former employee of Castle Gate Coal Co., where he retired in 1975. Retired member of the UMWA Local 1681.
Albert enjoyed gardening, traveling, fishing and camping.
Survived by four daughters, Vangie Valdez, Riverside, Calif.; Helen Zavala, Price; Dora (Henry) Smith, Price; Nora (Max) Aragon, East Carbon; stepchildren, Bennie Sasena, San Diego, Calif.; Phil (Pat) Arel-lano, La Mesa, Calif.; Fred (Susie) Arellano, Las Vegas, Nev.; six sisters and two brothers, Stella, Manuelita, Augustine, LaLa, LoLa, Jose D., Clara, Frances; 38 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and a community of friends. Preceded in death by parents, three brothers, two sisters, and three stepchildren; and four sons-in-laws.
Funeral service Wednesday, April 23, 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Evening service Tuesday, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
