Scott Terry lead the Carbon boys team with a first place finish in the cross country meet held last Wednesday in Delta. The next stop for the Dinos is the region meet which will determine which runners will advance to the state finals later this month.

The Carbon High cross country team completed their regular season last Wednesday in Delta. The Dinos were amongst nine schools to compete in the meet which found Carbon leading the pack during the long distance race.
In the boys divison, Carbon finished in second place with 59 points. The Dinos trailed Richfield who took first place honors with 51 points.
Scott Terry won the boys event with a time of 16 minutes, one second, while team mate Isaac Goodrich finished the three mile race in second place with the time of 16 minutes, seven seconds. Both Terry and Goodrich ran with one of the Richfield runners until about the two mile mark. This is when the team mates ran together, taking turns in first and second place until Terry crossed the finish line first.
The third runner for Carbon was Joe Palmer who finished the event in ninth place. Teddy Prettyman placed 18th and was followed by Chris Cook in 31st place to round out the roster for the Dinos.
Because one team member did not compete in the Delta meet for Carbon, the boys finished in second place overall. With the assistance of the absent runner, Carbon could have very well taken home the first place team honors.
The girls team tied for third place with host team Delta. Carbon trailed behind first place team Richfield and North Sanptete. Out of the nine teams that competed, this was a strong finish for the Dinos.
Melanie Madsen took top honors for the Dinos by placing second overall. Ashley Rowley placed 11 th, Audrey Oliver 22nd, Elizabeth Brooks 23rd, Brittani Horrocks 25th, Ashley Anderson 26th, and Jana Burrows 28th to round out the Dinos roster.
Although this was the last meet of the year for the Dinos, the team looks forward to competing in the region meet Oct. 15 at North Sanpete High in Mt. Pleasant. This meet will determine which top three teams or 10 individuals will make it to the state championships. Both the boys and girls team has a good chance of making it to the state finals, but only time will tell.
