Local wildlife officials respond quickly and rescue injured fox. Last week Savage truck driver Jan Beardsly was traveling on Ridge Road at approximately 4 a.m. when she passed a fox. Because the truck causes so much wind current, the fox was thrown into the bridge which he stood near. The fox was injured, therefore Beardsly radioed for assistance. The call was made to local wildlife officials who responded within 30 minutes of the incident. Because of their quick response, the fox was transported to an area veterinarian clinic where he received treatment for a broken right leg. The good news is that the fox will make a complete recovery, this is mainly due to the fact that wildlife officials responded immediately to the call.
Because of severe drought conditions, wildlife may be found more often near public roadways. Motorist must exercise caution when traveling rural roads and watch for animals who may be searching for food and water. If an incident does occur, wildlife officials should be contacted immediately.
