SUNNYSIDE – Mary Liper-sick Zakrysek, age 93, died Jan. 17, 2003 at the Care Source Medical Hospital in Salt Lake City while surrounded by daughter, Rose Marie and husband, Doral; and great-grandson, “Little Bobby Goodsell.”
Born Nov. 8, 1909 in Rockvale, Colo. to Joe and Jennie Blatnik Lipersick. Married Matt Zakrysek April 14, 1945 in Canon City, Colo.
Mary attended public schools in Rockvale, graduated from Florence High School in 1928 and later attended college at Greeley, Colo. Matt worked in the coal mining industry in Canon City area until 1950. At that time he moved his family to Sunnyside, where he went to work for Kaiser Steel Corp. until his retirement in 1976. Matt and Mary traveled extensively after his retirement, including trips to Europe and Canada.
Mary was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in East Carbon. She was also a life member of the Western Slavonic Lodge of Denver, Colo.
Survived by daughter, Rose Marie (Doral) Goodsell, Sandy; four granddaughters, six grandsons, 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Matt; parents; five brothers and two sisters; son, Rudoph; daughter, Diana; and grandsons, Shawn M. Damron and Jerry Goodsell.
Funeral Mass Friday, Jan. 24, 10 a.m., Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Vigil service Thursday evening, 7 p.m., at the church in East Carbon, with Rev. Joseph W. Morris, S.J. as celebrant. Committal service, Cliffview Cemetery, Price, under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
