Vera Fazzio Marston
SPRING GLEN – Vera Fazzio Marston, age 87, passed away Friday, July 5, 2002, at her home of natural causes.
She was born March 14, 1915 in Sunnyside to Rosario and Filomenia Bonacci Fazzio. Her family later moved to Spring Glen, where they operated the Blue Hill Dairy.
She met the love of her life, Harold A. Marston, while picking cherries at a Springville orchard. They married April 26, 1935 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Helper. He lovingly called her “Toots.”
They were the parents of three children, Bill, Nancy and Harold “Butch.” She was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 1975.
She was a grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Her family was truly her pride and joy. She enjoyed their visits and always had a warm meal in the oven. People visitng were treated to home-cooked meals and homemade desserts.
She enjoyed politics and was always ready for a spirited debate. She was an avid fan of the Utah Jazz, never missing a game on television.
Vera was a member of the Stella D’America Italian Lodge 77. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Bill (Dorothy) Marston, Spring Glen; Nancy (Lynn) Thomas, Spring Glen; Harold R. (Emily) Marston, Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Teresa Ori, Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Filomenia Bonacci, Martha Lacey, Mary Driscoll, Josephine Perri; brothers, Sam Fazzio, Joseph Fazzio and Ike Fazzio.
Funeral Mass Wednesday, July 10, 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Vigil service Tuesday evening, 7 p.m., at the church in Helper. Family will be at the church Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Anthony Catholic Church, 5 S. Main, Helper, UT 84526.
Dorothy Louise Kilgore Svetich
HELPER – Dorothy Louise Kilgore Svetich, 84, passed away peacefully in the home that she loved on July 3, 2002.
She was born April 10, 1918 to Charles Wesley Kilgore and Rhoda Lee Cope Kilgore in Tracy City, Tenn. Married her lifelong soul mate, Mike John Svetich, Aug. 13, 1941 in Evanston, Wyo.
Her deepest love and devotion were to the care and welfare of her family. Her love of family was reflected in every aspect of her life and she passed this devotion to family on to her granddaughter, Jennifer, who cared for her during her difficult last few weeks.
Louise spent many happy hours in her beautiful rose filled yard. She enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling and shopping. Her motto was “Shop until you drop.”
She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Betty Jo Ruden, Price; son, Richard (Terri) Svetich, Reno, Nev.; daughter, Debra Ann (Russell) Dull, Lawrence; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brother, Alfred (Mary) Kilgore, Spring Glen. Peceded in death by parents; sister, Anne Bills; and brother, Charles Kilgore.
Funeral service Saturday, July 6, at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.

Larry Ball
ORANGEVILLE – Larry W. Ball, age 60, passed away July 6, 2002 in Price after a long illness.
He was born July 8, 1941 in Bingham Canyon to Rufus and Margaaret Bullock Ball. Married Marge Cummings July 3, 1969 in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father who enjoyed the outdoors, where he spent countless hours gathering wood on East Mountain or just being with his family. He loved working in the yard and took pride in his fruit trees.
He had a special love for his grandchildren and was grateful to have lived long enought to hold them.
He served proudly in the 1st Cavalry of the U.S. Army during Vietnam, having received two Purple Hearts and the air medal.
Larry is survived by his wife, Marge of Orangeville; two sons, Michael, Orangeville; Matthew and Cheyanne , Springville, and their children, Bradin and Payton. Also survived by one sister, Barbara, Mesquite, Nev.; and an “almost” daughter, Laura, who has played a special part in their lives.
Graveside services were Monday, July 8, in the Orangeville City Cemtery under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
Sylvia Jackson
PRICE – Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Sylvia Kuretich Jackson, age 82, passed away July 7, 2002 at Castle Country Care Center in Price.
She was born June 4, 1920 in Latuda to Anthony and Katherina Ozanich Kuretich. Married Jack Stuart Jackson July 27, 1946 in Helper. He died Aug. 8, 1982.
Member Catholic Church. Lifelong resident of Carbon County, where she shared her loving heart with her family and friends.
Sylvia was very active with her church, gardening and the daily work of a wonderful mother. Although she was hampered by Alzheimer’s, she continued to be a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A special mom, she will be forever in our memory.
Survived by her sons, Bart (Sharon) Jackson, Sandy; Brian (Lynda) Jackson, Myton; Rodney (Jonna) Jackson, Price; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sisters, Francis Skaggs, Price; Helen Olson, Price; many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Donna Thomas, Pauline Pollock; brother, Anthony Kuretich.
Funeral Mass Thursday, July 11, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service Wednesday evening, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday and Thursday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
Jay H. Fowler Jr.
SALT LAKE CITY – Jay H. Fowler Jr., 52, passed away at his home in Salt Lake City on July 3, 2002.
He was born May 19, 1950 to Jay H. and Mary Jones Fowler in Dragerton.
Jay was a graduate of East Carbon High School, College of Eastern Utah, and also attended the University of Utah. He was employed by the state of Utah as a human resource specialist.
Jay was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend. He loved his pets, music, gardening, and will be missed by many.
Survived by his mother, Mary Fowler; three sisters, Jaylene (Angelo) Marakis, East Carbon; Penny (Loren) Long, Grand Junction, Colo.; Ricki (Jeff) Palmer, East Carbon. Also survived my many nieces and nephews, Angelo J.S. Marakis, Lisa Gazell, Lindsay Palmer, Taylor Palmer, KyLeigh Palmer, Halyn Palmer, Kristopher Gazell, Bryan Gazell, Casey Marakis, Josh Marakis; and special friend, Katie. Jay was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral service Tuesday, July 9, 2 p.m., Mitchell Fuenral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Valley View Cemetery, Sunnyside.
Victor Sacco
SPRING GLEN – Victor Sacco, age 85, passed away July 4, 2002 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born Dec. 20, 1916 in Sunnyside to Rosario and Rosina Bonacci Sacco. Married Florence Melba Turner in Salt Lake City. She died in 1996. Married LuLu Fife of Billings, Mont. They later divorced.
Member of the Catholic Church. Longtime resident of Spring Glen, where he enjoyed farming, breaking horses and mechanicing. Graduate Carbon High School and the National Trade School in Kansas City, Mo., in 1952. Served U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his daughters, Glenna Lee (Dick) Stens, Sandy; Anita Jean (Jim) Bowman, Monte Vista, Colo.; grandchildren, Charisse (Steve) Wanburg, Sandy; Steven, Jennifer, Kimberly Bowman, all of Monte Vista, Colo.; one great-granddaughter; sister, Sylvia Edwards, Spokane, Wash.; sister-in-law, Bessie Sacco, Spring Glen; dear nephew, Albert Lodeserto, Kenilworth; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends who will miss “Uncle Vic.” Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Hugo, Richard, Ross, Rudy, Louie, Albert; sisters, Mary Stella, Minnie Lodeserto and Lena Kryscio.
