Traci Mortensen anticipates setting the volleyball for a fellow Dino team mate in a game played earlier this season at Carbon High. The Dinos played two games last week winning both to remain undefeated so far this season.

Before the season even began it was expected that the Carbon High Lady Dinos volleyball team would take Region 8 by storm. That is exactly what they have done so far.
The season has been one filled with victory after victory. Currently the Dinos are undefeated and hold a record of 7-0. Not a bad start.
Last week, the Dinos compete in two Region 8 games, the first of which was held in Castle Dale against the Emery Spartans. The game was one which the Dinos dominated as they easily defeated the struggling Spartan team 15-9, 15-0.
Carbon then jumped back from their first win of the week to compete on the road against North Sanpete. Although the Dinos started off slowly by losing the first set 10-15, the team bounced back to take control of the match up.
The second set was dominated by the Dinos who won 15-9. The final and deciding set also played out quite similar to the second. The Dinos claimed the victory with a 15-10 final in the third set. This boosted the Dinos winning streak to seven for the year.
Brittany Pollastro stepped up to play strong for the Dinos against the North Sanpete Hawks. In fact, Pollastro dominated the middle by blocking strong for the Dino team.
With only two more regular season games on their schedule, the Dinos are looking forward to competing in the state volleyball tournament to be held in Orem Oct. 31 through Nov. 1. Although the team is focused on winning a state title this year, the girls know that the remainder of the season is just as important.
Carbon has a bye this week and will not return to the court until Oct. 22 when they host Region 8 rival the Lehi Pioneers. The team will then finish the season off Oct. 28 at home against the Wasatch Wasps.
In the meantime however, the team will remain focused and work hard to stay on top of their game.
